Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Golf Challenge?

The Els for Autism Golf Challenge is a series of amateur golf tournaments to benefit the Els for Autism Foundation. The Golf Challenge tournaments are hosted from March to October and will be conducted throughout the U.S. The Els for Autism Golf Challenge also offers the option of running your own affiliate event or donating as a non-golfer. Teams that fundraise $15,000 or more in donations will advance to the Grand Finale.

Can I play if I do not have a USGA GHIN Number?

Yes! If you do not submit a GHIN number at the time of registration and your handicap cannot be verified, you will play as a scratch golfer on event day. Please note that handicap indexes will not be accepted. To learn more or create a new account, please visit the website here

Can I submit my handicap index over my GHIN Number?

No, handicap indexes will not be accepted. This rule has been put in place by our National Co-Chairs to ensure accurate tournament scoring. The Els for Autism team will use your GHIN number to verify your most up-to-date HCI the Thursday before the event. If you do not submit a GHIN number at the time of registration and your handicap cannot be verified, you will play as a scratch golfer on event day.

How Does SAP support the Golf Challenge?

SAP is a proud partner of the Els for Autism Golf Challenge regional event series. Through this annual event, SAP employees can strengthen relationships with customers through a common mission of serving our communities.

What is the tie-breaking policy?

In the event of a tie, the golf professional will match the scores of the team’s best ball to determine the winner based on the best score for the last nine holes. If the tying players have the same score for the last nine, the professional will determine the winner based on the last six holes, the last three holes, and finally the 18th hole. If this method is used in a competition with a multiple tee start (1 & 10 or a shotgun), it is recommended that the “last nine holes, last six holes, etc.,” is considered to be holes 10-18, 13-18, etc. following the USGA back nine guidelines.

What are the participant restrictions?

The Golf Challenge is open to all amateur golfers and professional golfers. A professional golfer may not be eligible to win the tournament and scores will not be counted toward final tournament results. At least one team member must be 18 years of age or over.

Can I have a refund?

People who register for a regional event and later find themselves unable to participate may not seek a refund of either registration fees or donations. They may, however, designate a substitute team member. For more questions, please contact info@e4agolf.com
